IJL was excited to welcome W&M History Ph.D. candidate Tyler Goldberger to the Global Research Institute to present on some of his dissertation research. His talk, "Remembering and Forgetting the Past: United States-Spain Relations (1936-1975)," addressed the question In what ways and by whom have the Spanish Civil War and Francisco Franco dictatorship been remembered and forgotten in the United States? And, why does this period in Spain matter in the United States? Goldberger explored United States-Spain relations through the 20th century with an emphasis on human rights, humanitarianism, and care.
