We would like to thank Dr. Andrea Vilán, Assistant Professor of Justice, Law and Criminology at American University, for coming back to W&M to share her research examining how the UN accurately monitors implementation of treaties regarding child marriage at the domestic level. Ultimately, her project seeks to understand which factors affect the varying precision level of recommendations that the UN gives to different states, and whether those recommendations have truly been effective in eradicating child marriage. It was a pleasure to learn about this research project, and we look forward to following along as it progresses!
